Here's a video of a junior squad from Zurich/Schaffhausen running through the Swiss forest. (Dec 2011)
Severin Howald (aka the Flying Swiss) shows the ultimate in reading on the run. From the Swiss O Mag from the European Champs).
From Spike's Blog: This short video summary of the European Orienteering Champs is really nice. The U2 song that starts the video always brings back strong memories of sports for me. At the Salt Lake Olympic cross country venue they played it repeatedly.
Henrik Gothberg made the video. If you've got a long memory and know about the history of orienteering in Kansas, you might remember Henrik spent some time here in the mid 1980s.
The PTOC sprint was held at Antioch Park on Sun, May 28. The park is small, but nice for a park sprint. There are enough things going on to keep it interesting and the park has a lot of shade. Take a look at Mike Eglinski's sprint race using his GoPro strapped on the chest and with the video stabilized using Youtube and some music for the first 5 minutes. Run with Spike - you were there.
Orienteer Kansas is an orienteering club based in Lawrence, KS and a member club of Orienteering USA. Orienteer Kansas promotes the sport of orienteering by holding orienteering meets and training sessions, organizes the participation of its members at orienteering meets elsewhere, and recruits and encourages the development of new orienteers.
Here's an intro video from the British Orienteering Federation.
If you don't want to get lost, read the map . . .
Check out Mike Eglinski's video of his run at the Kill Creek Sprint event complete with video (no sound) and active-map. You can follow his route with what he saw on the map and what was really in front of him. The video even orients the map for you (beginners: this is Orienteering 101). Good armchair orienteering.
